Location with history

On the site where the tents and later the caravans of Boomhiemke once stood, the Strandhuyzen have now been built. In the 1960s and 1970s tourism began on Ameland. Campsite Boomhiemke in Hollum, with its camping building De Ambla, became a household name for many holidaymakers on Ameland. You could get an ice cream there, play mini golf, and there was a playground. The activities for the children were also held there.

Alongside the tent camp, caravans appeared, and later the first stone bungalows. There was always plenty to do at Boomhiemke. Ambla disappeared, and the tents disappeared. On this unique location now stands this beautiful Strandhuys Strandjutter 26. Ameland is still just as beautiful. There is still plenty to do. You can still come to rest there and enjoy nature. Boomhiemke is also still thriving. There are many activities. Everything is done with full dedication so that you can have a wonderful holiday on Ameland. Just like the old days.
